Thank you for visiting the India section of our website. All tours are not created equal, nor are all travel companies. In true luxury travel there is no ‘One Size Fits All’ and some travelers will not find us to be a good fit for their needs. Explorers who repeatedly travel with us all seem to share the following attributes -

1. You cherish learning about other cultures.
2. You value your time and don’t want it wasted because of poor planning and/or execution.
3. You appreciate guides with real expertise, intelligence, and passion for their destination.
4. Your treasured travel memories include genuine interactions with locals.
5. You like excellent lodging with great dining options.

We use the word ‘Tours’ for want of a better term. Since 2004 the Easy Tours family, both at the destinations we offer and, in the U.S., has worked tirelessly to design and facilitate memorable experiences for our guests. Over 70% of our guests today are Repeats and Referrals.

What makes India Amazing?

Almost every nation has lost its old way of life to progress, and ethnic attire and adornments, as well as original culture and rituals, are encountered primarily in carefully staged locales that are preserved solely for tourism purposes.

India is unique in that it has retained its original charm, as the majority of its 1.4 billion plus residents still inhabit rural areas, and the middle aged and older members of these villages still dress and adorn themselves just like their ancestors did many centuries ago. The best tours of India include opportunities to observe these lifestyles. Everyday rituals, ceremonies and festivals are vivid windows into India's glorious past, and anyone who has toured through India with us has enjoyed these wonders throughout their exploration.

Nowhere else will you find this fascinating fusion of the ancient and the modern; an elephant and his mahout walking down a street busy with vehicles and pedestrian office goers in suits teeming in and out of the surrounding buildings; pushcart hawkers still sing their way through real estate costing millions of dollars as they banter and negotiate with locals; villages and rural areas are full of cattle such as cows, buffaloes, camels, goats and sheep, all of whom are an integral part of everyday life, both as everyday labor, as well as a source of necessities such as milk.

About Easy Tours

Easy Tours was born in 2004 with two guiding principles - to provide the best luxury tours and vacations for explorers from North America, and to always value our guest's time. We have not sacrificed these principles on the altar of growth - we still guide just a couple of thousand guests a year total in all the countries we now call home.

Please take the time to review one or more of our detailed itineraries, which are different from other tours, to determine whether we are a good fit for you. The best tour of India for you is one that touches your heart - your itinerary should make you really want it to start right now!

The Best Luxury Hotels & Rooms

Lodging options for travelers in India are unsurpassed anywhere on this planet, and we use only great rooms at the best luxury hotels.

Easy Tours is a preferred India tour operator partner of luxury hoteliers such as the Oberoi Hotels & Resorts and the Taj Hotels, Palaces & Resorts. Ask someone who has stayed at one or more of these hotels and they will verify that the service, amenities, and luxury at these hotels is unsurpassed anywhere on our planet.

The terms 'luxury' and '5-star' are used very loosely in our industry. For example, a 5-star hotel room might cost $70, and another one in the same destination may cost $2000 - there are a lot of reasons for the difference in price. We offer 3 levels of lodging and have decades long relationships with the best hoteliers at each price point.

Best Experiences in India

Most of our guests say that the highlights of their exploration included the rich ancient culture and rituals, the gracious and gentle people and their behavior and mannerisms (evolved over millennia), and obviously the incredible colors of India.

India has more UNESCO World Heritage Sites than almost every other country on this planet. With Easy Tours you get to experience these with India's best guides and support staff.

But UNESCO Sites do not often become lifetime memories for true explorers. The memories you will cherish are interactions, with humans and others, including when you look deep into the eyes of a wise Elephant.

Nature is at its best on the Indian sub-continent. You can choose to explore the awe-inspiring peaks of the great Himalayas, enjoy wildlife safaris in the lush jungles that are spread throughout the country, and/or relax on the warm beaches that dot the southern coastlines.

What the best places to visit in India are actually depends on what you most enjoy when you explore, and what time of the year you will be exploring. Talk to us if you would like expert suggestions on what we would recommend based on your individual travel preferences.

The Best Time to Visit India

If your goal is to avoid higher temperatures, October to March is the best time to visit India. Our small group tours of India operate during these months. But this is a subjective issue based on your preferences and so our escorted private tours operate throughout the year.

The Best Time to Visit Wildlife Parks

Most of North India’s National Wildlife Sanctuaries are closed from July 1st until October 1st. Over 85% of our guests get one or more Bengal Tiger sightings at all our chosen parks.

The Best Time to Visit North India

October through early April are the relatively cooler months, and temperatures can be fairly cold between mid-December and late January. Our small group tours operate during the cooler months.

The Best Time to Visit South India

At South India's coastal destinations, such as Kochi, which is included on our longer small group tours, and Goa that we offer as a beach extension after our luxury escorted private tours, temperature change throughout the year is minimal, and it is always fairly hot.

Wildlife Safaris in India

India is home to tens of thousands of animal & bird species. They all play an integral part in Indian society, history, and day to day existence. Enjoy an escorted small group tour of India with Easy Tours and experience one of India’s premier Wildlife Sanctuary’s that is home to many of these species.

Our founder started visiting Indian wildlife parks in the early 70s, and these sanctuaries soon became a passion for him. The India Specialists at Easy Tours love to hear him recount those days, when the infrastructure for both travel and lodging was primitive compared to today, yet the experiences were, just like today, unforgettable. We hear of bareback elephant rides into remote parts of the jungle, and of chance tiger encounters while on foot! He has enjoyed hundreds of safaris in India over the past four decades and personally designs each of our wildlife itineraries.

10 Best Wildlife Parks in India

Wildlife Parks
The best statistical opportunity for tiger sightings in India. In earlier times, the forests around Bandhavgarh were maintained as a Shikargah (game preserve) of the Maharaja of Rewa Bandhavgarh. Now, the designated Tiger Reserve covers an area of 1537 square kilometers with a core area of 717 square kilometers that is dominated by extremely rugged terrain. Many hills and hillocks dot the area amidst valleys, meadows and marshes. The Charanganga is the prominent river that flows through the park, with a number of old tanks and water holes that provide reliable water sources for the current fauna. With tropical dry and moist deciduous forests interspersed with grasslands, the vegetation is chiefly of sal forest in the valleys and on the lower slopes, with bamboo found in abundance throughout most of the park.
Named after the once imposing 10th century fort whose ruins preside over the park from a nearby hilltop, Ranthambore National Park offers among the best statistical chances of seeing tigers in the wild. It is the easiest park to access on a tour that involves India's Golden Triangle. In the 18th and 19th centuries the jungles here were the royal hunting grounds of the Maharaja of Jaipur. In the mid-nineteenth century, the British Officer in charge of the area started a program of conservation for the fast-dwindling wildlife. It became a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1955 and a National Park (as part of Project Tiger) in 1973.
The dense forests, open fields, and plethora of wildlife found in Kanha National Park inspired Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book. Kanha has very good tiger sightings, and it is frequently combined with Bandhavgarh National Park due its relatively close proximity.
In 1955, 60 years after Kipling's book was first published, Kanha National Park was founded to protect the diverse wildlife and lush flora that inspired one of the most memorable tales from India's colonial British era. With boundaries stretching over 500-square-miles of forests and plains, Khana National Park is the largest tiger reserve and nature sanctuary in Central India.
Nagarhole National Park, (also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park), was set up as a wildlife sanctuary in 1955 and gained National Park status in 1988. The park stretches for over 643 square kilometers in the southern state of Karnataka. It is part of the UNESCO designated Nigiri (Blue Mountain) Biosphere Reserve, one of twelve Biosphere Reserves in India, and the entire Biosphere Reserve area is said to have the largest population of tigers on our planet. This is one of the two best Wildlife Parks in South India, and the lush and dense sub-tropical forests in this region are home to a very diverse array of amazing wildlife and avian species, the latter of which are both migratory and indigenous to the Park. Wild Elephant Herd sightings are common, and there are frequent sightings of sloth bears, tigers, and leopards.
Bandipur National Park is separated from Nagarhole National Park by the extremely scenic Kabini River and this 870 square kilometers sanctuary is also connected to Mudumalai National Park and the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. Together they form the largest protected area for wildlife in Southern India and latest reports show that Bandipur now has 2500 Wild Elephants, 173 Bengal Tigers, and over 300 Leopards – a growth in numbers that illustrates the success of the Park’s conservation efforts. This is one of the two best Wildlife Parks in South India, and the lush and dense sub-tropical forests in this region are home to a very diverse array of other fascinating wildlife and avian species, the latter of which are both migratory and indigenous to the Park. Wild Elephant Herd sightings are common, and there are frequent sightings of sloth bears, tigers, and leopards.
Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is also known as the Kaladeo Ghana Sanctuary. Once the shooting preserve of royalty, this small sanctuary is the most spectacular water-bird sanctuary in India and it lies just off the Agra to Jaipur highway. It is one of the major wintering areas for large numbers of aquatic birds from Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, China and Siberia. Some 364 species of birds, including the rare Siberian Crane, have been recorded in the park. The name Kaladeo is derived from the name of an ancient Hindu temple devoted to Lord Shiva in the sanctuary's central zone, while the Hindi term "Ghana" implies dense, thick areas of forest cover. Covering an area of just 12 square miles, Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is an interlocking ecosystem of woodlands, swamps, wet prairies and dry savannah.
The last home of the Asiatic Lion, Sasan Gir Lion Sanctuary is a model of success for conservationists. A century ago, there was about 20 lions left in this area; currently there are over 300. The 'Gir Lion' (as it's now known) is easy to view and photograph, in comparison to the elusive tiger and most other big cats. This is partially due to the fact that the protection offered to the wildlife in this Park is among the best in India and so they have less fear of humans.
India's most famous wildlife park, and the first park in Project Tiger, Corbett National Park is fairly easily accessible from Delhi by road, but is in a direction that necessitates a roundtrip journey. Designated as a wildlife park in 1935, it was the first wildlife sanctuary in Asia. A visitor to Corbett is guaranteed encounters with an amazing diversity of wildlife, as well as a chance of coming across the elusive tiger. It is a large and beautiful park, and a safari into the core area of the park, whether on elephant back (currently discontinued) or four-wheel drive vehicle, is a thrilling experience.
Located in the lush jungles of Kerala, Periyar National Park offers among the best opportunities to view elephants in the wild. A stop here is part of all our tours that explore South India's major attractions. A visit here includes a boat cruise on the magical lake of the same name, which is where you will get to observe wild Elephant herds on the banks. The sub-tropical flora in this region is spectacular and the world's most prized spices are grown here. A naturalist guided visit to a Spice Plantation is part of your visit to India’s amazing Western Ghats.
The terrain is hilly and the elevation of the park ranges from a few hundred feet to about 6000 feet above sea level. Periyar is home to just under a thousand elephants and also over 60 other mammal species including tigers, bison, deer, wild boar, and wild dog. There are over 300 species of birds, and even 160 species of butterflies.
Originally established as a reserve forest in 1908, Kaziranga was declared a sanctuary in 1916 to counter extensive poaching of the rare and endangered one-horned rhinoceros. In 1974, the Indian Government demarcated the present area as a national park, which was then designated a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985. In 2007, it was also declared a tiger reserve under the Central Government's Project Tiger scheme. This is a blessed land for wildlife enthusiasts. At the heart of its mind-boggling biodiversity is the rich topography with its lush hills and valleys, dissected by the majestic Brahmaputra and its many tributaries.
