Khao Sok National Park Description:
Khao Sok National Park’s towering limestone mountains are covered in rain forests teeming with wildlife.
The park’s borders cover some 280 square miles of often mist shrouded mountains and jungle, and at the center of the preserve Cheow Larn Lake’s shinning waters seem like an in-land mirror of Phang Nga Bay’s turquoise waters and jutting karst formations.
Clouded leopards, Malaysian sun bears, gibbons, tigers, and tapirs are just a few of the mammals that make their homes in the Khao Sok National Park’s protected boards. There are hundreds of birds and lizards species, and the park houses some of Southeast Asia’s most unique plants like the Rafflesia, the world’s largest blooming flower. Elephant treks and jeep safaris are popular ways for travelers on luxury tours of Thailand to experience the park’s rare beauty.
Cheow Larn Lake was created in the 1980s when Phrasaeng River was dammed, which filled the mountain basin with water. Today long-tail boats zip across Cheow Larn Lake’s glassy surface, whisking travelers between stunning limestone outcrops that are strikingly similar to the karst formations found along the coast of the Andaman Sea.
Best Time to Visit Khao Sok National Park:
